Johanne Bérubé

Often when we reach 40 we begin to ask ourselves questions like “Who am I really?” and “Is this the right career path for me?” Some of us may have ended up following different directions than originally planned. I’m a perfect example of that. I earned a diploma in Fashion Design from the Canadian Academy of Fashion Design – Richard Robinson, in Ottawa, Ontario following my training in Fashion Art Technique at the Campus Notre-Dame de Foy in Cap Rouge, Quebec. After working for a short time in this field, and before exploring my creativity as much as I would have liked, I found myself spending the next six years as a window dresser, where I had fun with colours, fabrics, and playing with all sorts of interesting media. The recession of the early 90s encouraged me to change direction and take a job as a public servant, working in administration and executive services. In order to find a balance between my job in the bureaucracy and my need to create, I threw myself into developing my garden. Today, it has more than 150 species of daylily, as well as hundreds of perennials, trees and shrubs. But gardening is no longer enough! I am going back to the arts using watercolours, oil painting, designing greeting cards and scrapbooking. Now that my kids are grown, I am striking out on a new career, something like the one I had originally planned for myself. This time, though, my artistic path incorporates everything I am passionate about in life. As Founding President of ÇaFabrik, I invite you to spend some creative time with our talented team of instructors and designers in a warm and peaceful atmosphere! See you soon! Brigitte Bérubé

Hi, my name is Brigitte. I have been married to a wonderful man since 1998, and we have a beautiful son. I spent a large part of my career as an administrative assistant in the federal government. Without really noticing it, I started scrapbooking when my son began school. I thought it was important that he remember his classmates and his activities during those great years, and even after he turned twenty. But it was in 2008 that I discovered the art of making beautiful greeting cards using stamps, ribbons, and other embellishments, and I learned all sorts of techniques. Since then, I make greeting cards for all occasions, and I enjoy giving them to my family and friends. Seeing the expression on their faces is what gives me the most pleasure! With my husband’s help, we set up half of the basement as a reserved space for my scrapbooking. Now I don’t have to put everything away every time! One day, I’ll have an entire room just for me! I take my daily inspiration from discussions with my sisters and friends, from magazines and from the Internet. I like learning new techniques, having fun, and discovering the wonderful world of cards, pages and projects… I just love doing this!!! Blog : http://brigitteacafabrik.blogspot.com/

Suzanne Bérubé

My name is Suzanne. I have been married since 1996. I am the mother of a beautiful son, who is also my greatest source of inspiration. I discovered scrapbooking in 2007 when a friend initiated me into this wonderful pastime. Since then, I try to do it as much as possible. You might even say I’m in love with scrapbooking! I get a lot of pleasure out of creating beautiful cards and pages using different techniques. I occasionally give courses to primary school students on different projects and themes. There is a lot to discover in scrapbooking, which is why I joined the design team at ÇaFabrik, as well as to share with you. I hope my creations will inspire you in your projects! Mélanie Akins

Ah, mixed media, here is my passion. So passionate that I dream of it. I dream in colours and textures… Magenta, Phtalo Bleu, Cadmium Yellow, mediums, varnish, modeling paste… I just freak! It’s like medication under prescription. It makes my spirit feel good. We must take time for ourselves. For me it all started with card making, and I made lots of cards, tones of cards! But why limit to this? So, I joined ÇaFabrik’s Team. I often take mixed media classes and I also give some from time to time… And now, here I am today…hooked! I hope to meet you at ÇaFabrik one of these days, it’s my favourite playground! Blog : http://melanieakinsacafabrik.blogspot.com/
